A three-week-belated "thank you" from The Rapiers to Yoevil guitarist and Hank Marvin disciple Justin Daish (and mum and dad) for services above and beyond. Ralph Gowling posted the following 5 February on ShadowMusic. I reproduce the warm glow here:
Colin Pryce-Jones says words are almost inadequate when it comes to thanking Justin Daish and his parents for coming to the rescue of The Rapiers at a Made In Britain show at the Pavilion Theatre in Exmouth, Devon last Friday.
"I can't thank Justin and his parents enough for putting themselves out so much to help me in my hour of need. It was such a wonderful act of kindness," said Colin. "It was one of those days when everything seemed to go wrong. Firstly, my amp was playing up and then my Meazzi echo packed up."
Guitarist Phil Kelly was there and found himself regretting he had not, as originally planned, brought his echo unit for Colin to try out. As the clock ticked away towards the start of the show at 8 p.m., any solution seemed miles away from Exmouth. But that was when Justin stepped in, phoning his parents at about 6:30 p.m. as they were having dinner at home in Yeovil, the best part of an hour-and-a-half's drive away.
Putting Justin's Meazzi echo in the car, they made the dash for Exmouth and got to the theatre with just minutes to go before curtain up.
"Justin and I set it up with just about two minutes to go!" said Colin. "Words seem almost inadequate to thank Justin and his parents enough for what they did that night. They really did save the day and I will never forget how they literally pulled out all the stops to help us. Justin, God bless you and your parents for all that you did. I salute you for your wonderful kindness."
