Damn, man! Don't smashing clothes make the men and bands?
Before barnstorming the stage for three hours of stonking British '60s Beat, The Rapiers and Liverpool's Shakers matched up in shades of natty blue and black sartorial splendour backstage at the very sold out Amersham Rock 'n' Roll Club Saturday night.
More snaps, reportage, comment and video to come on this splendiferous evening.
I used to watch the Rapiers in the 80's and 90's around London, good memories.
I was not at this event, but looking at the picture here, it looks like it was a good night. Is that Dave Lawes on the right?, looks a little bigger (around the waste) then I remember :-), Colin still looks trim though, must be that "William Tell" routine, I'm out of breath just watching....

Yes, that is Dave Lawes, in pretty good shape.

Do you see Dave at all ?, if you do would you say hello from me, we have not seen each other for a long time, lost contact when I moved to Northampton. I had heard that he had left the band ?
Thanks

Yes, whenever we visit England, generally. Plus he came out to San Francisco last fall, on holiday. He's an incredibly friendly chap, with a great memory of the early Rapiers days. He left the band in 1993 but returned two years ago to share rhythm guitar duties with his successor, Neil Ainsby, an arrangement that is an embarassment of riches in my opinion, and unique in the annals of rock 'n' roll.

Peter, what's your surname or location, so I can pass your hello to Dave.

He will know me from our time together at Seismograph in Kent (in the 80's), I now live in Northampton in the UK. The last time I saw him play was at the Derngate (the theater in Northampton) with Freddy Garrity, that must have been around 1990?.
It would be nice to catch up and have a beer, I think they are touring the UK now, I will have to look at the dates/locations.
Thanks
