Now in their 29th year as rock 'n' roll crusaders for all that's way, way cool about early '60s Britannia pop, Merseybeat and Shadows-styled instrumentals, The Rapiers—"the best '60s band since the '60s"—are truly worth flying 5,000 miles to see, hear and dig.
Seems The Flames, whose membership includes Rapier John Tuck's brother Jeff on drums and former Rapiers bassist Roger Cover, have replaced The Rapiers as support for the Hit Parade Heroes show with John Leyton and Jet Harris on Saturday, 6 March at the Thameside Theatre, Grays, Essex.
Frankly, I don't like booking switcheroos like this (see original theatre listing in inset, clearly showing The Rapiers). But, as Elvis so pithily said on the silver screen, "that's the way the mop flops".
Perhaps John or Jet's management might enlighten us.
